Nekropolis is a German Krautrock group formed 1979 by Peter Frohmader.

Since 1980 they released several groundbreaking albums like "Musik Aus Dem Schattenreich", "Nekropolis", "Nekropolis 2", "Cultes Des Goules", "Orakel/Tiefe" or "Ritual".

Some Nekropolis albums were recorded as a group, but the most albums are solo works of Peter Frohmader.

In 1982 they started the collaboration with the Swiss oscar winner and painter H.R. Giger, which was a big fan of Nekropolis and composed soundtracks for some of Giger's films.

In the 80's and in the 90's, many TV Channels all around the world, like Germany, U.S.A., Canada, France, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Japan and many more, aired reports and portraits about Peter Frohmader and the music of Nekropolis and many articles, portraits, interviews & reviews has been writen by the international Press.

In 2019 Peter Frohmader joined Aumega Project and started to publishing his solo music and also the music of Nekropolis, there.

Nekropolises music ranges from Krautrock experiments, nightmarish dark electronic to complex modern electronica, their inspiration goes from Klaus Schulze, Ash Ra Tempel, Tangerine Dream, Amon Düül II, Can, Heldon to Magma.

Nekropolis also worked together with many other musicians for concerts, sessions or studio productions, like Joel Vandroogenbroeck (Brainticket), Chris Karrer (Amon Düül II), Rudi Haunreiter (Emtidi, Niagara, etc), musicians of "Embryo", "Sparifankal", Stephan Manu, Richard Pinhas and many more.

They doing music for films, videos, TV and Theatre and produced some own experimental films & videos.

 Peter Frohmader is considered by many to be the creator of the German Angst Music.
